Otoplasty Details: Otoplasty surgeries are usually performed under local anaesthesia with sedation. Incisions are made at the back of the ears and the cartilage in the ear is remodelled in a number of different ways in order to create a new desirable shape. A light pressure plaster is worn after the operation for around a week. Otoplasty Results: Bruising and Swelling should subside in a couple of weeks and the new shape of the ear will continue to remodel over a period of 6-8 weeks. As the cartilage continues to grow and heal, the surgical results can be, sometimes, unpredictable. The scars from the operation will be hidden behind the ear and will continue to improve over a period of 2 years. |
