Filler, Hyaluronic Acid Injection

Soft Tissue Fillers

Soft tissue deflation and sagging are two of the most obvious signs of aging. The logical way to reverse this process is the refill the deficient areas with fillers. Common sites of facial deflation include the flat malar bones, wrinkles on the face and the lips. Common dermal filler used are hyaluronic acid and a patient's own fat tissue.

Hyaluronic Acid, Filler Injection Details: hyaluronic acid is injected into the deflated areas until the desirable results are achieved. Hyaluronic acid is readily available from pharmaceutical companies; however, if a patient wishes to use his or her own fat tissue then the fat needs to be harvested first. Quite often, patients opt to have this procedure done as an addition to a body contouring operation, i.e. liposuction. This would be convenient since the patient will have spare aspirated fat after their liposuction and after the fat cells have been centrifuged, it will be ready to be used as tissue filler.

Hyaluronic Acid, Filler Injection Results: Swelling should dissipate within 2-5 days in the case of using Hyaluronic acid as the filler, or 1-2 weeks in the case of the fat injections. Bruising may last for 2-4 weeks. The effects of the hyaluronic acid injections approximately last for 6-12 months. The effects of the fat injections usually suffer from partial absorption and a re-touch is usually required after 3-6 months.
